Introducing the Lexus LFA
The Lexus LFA is by far the most surprising Lexus car ever made. Lexus has built their reputation on smooth, aesthetic and perfectly nerve-calming cars but the Lexus LFA is very different from all the Lexus cars that have been produced so far. This exotic two-seat, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports coupe is equipped with a V10 engine and a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer body, which make it a very powerful yet relatively light car. The latest version (production model) was first unveiled at the 2009’s Tokyo Motor Show.

The Lexus LFA is a super-fast car, accelerating from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in only 3.7 seconds, and can reach a high 326 km/h (203 mph). The car has a 10-cylinder, 552-hp engine and features a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer body cabin that makes it super-lightweight. The body and chassis are made largely of carbon-fiber composite, like those of a Ferrari Enzo or a Mercedes SLR McLaren. The car weighs 1,480 kg (3263 pounds), which is less than a Corvette ZR1.

The Lexus LFA might not be the fastest car ever made, nor the most powerful one, but it’s definitely one of the most surprising ones. Lexus has not built its reputation on sports cars but the LFA is definitely one of the finest ones produced in the last few years. It is scheduled to go into production in late 2010. The Lexus LFA can be customized in different colors and wheel designs, which is great for customization enthusiasts. A circuit-tuned variant is set to be released in 2012.

If you like and can afford the Lexus LFA, make sure you consider visiting your closest Lexus car dealer because only 500 cars will ever be produced: 20 each month for 25 consecutive months according to Lexus officials. Although the LFA seems to be fairly expensive ($350,000), Lexus says they will lose money on every car made. The last sports car that had a similar level of technology, performance and singularity was the Ferrari Enzo ($650,000).
